“Chocolatito” Gonzalez Closer To Retirement After An Upcoming Surgery ?

    By Gabriel F. Cordero

Four-time world champion Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez, 38, will undergo surgery on January 30th for an old injury to his left shoulder. The procedure will be performed by a team of Nicaraguan doctors residing in the United States and Colombia, according to a press conference held in Managua, Nicaragua.

“Chocolatito” Gonzalez has been undergoing physical therapy to improve his mobility.

It appears that the future candidate for the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota does not have a set date for his return to the ring, as it depends on his recovery and the opinion of the medical team. His recovery could take between six and nine months.

Gonzalez, also known as a follower of the word of God and a member of the evangelical community, has become a real estate entrepreneur and is a national icon of the Sandinista revolution.

“Time will tell many things along the way. Let’s take it one step at a time. I’m doing well, focused on my apartment and house businesses, but I would like to fight again. The important thing is that I’m happy now that I’m a businessman,” said Gonzalez.

Since 2020, “Chocolate” Gonzalez has only had 7 fights.
