The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has praised a visiting delegation from the Africa Arts Network for their dedication to promoting Ghana’s cultural and creative landscape, encouraging them to continue formalising their proposals to deepen collaboration with the Ministry.

During an interaction with the group, the minister expressed appreciation for their passion, consistency and commitment to developing theatre productions, cultural programmes and innovative creative experiences.

She noted that the sector continues to produce resilient and talented individuals who remain devoted to nurturing Ghana’s identity through the arts.

Gomashie emphasised that while the Ministry remains open and supportive of creative initiatives, formal documentation is essential to ensuring that proposals receive the necessary attention.

She explained that the Ministry handles numerous engagements daily and written submissions provide the structure required for proper follow-up and informed decision-making.

“Once your ideas are written and submitted, it allows us to track, minute, and respond properly,” she noted, underscoring the importance of official communication for all proposals, including invitations, budget requests and partnership engagements.

The minister further encouraged the Africa Arts Network to submit their plans—particularly concerning their major theatre event scheduled for 7th and 8th March 2026—in writing for consideration, reassuring them that the Ministry recognises the value of their work and the potential of theatre to contribute significantly to national cultural development.

Addressing broader sector concerns, Gomashie referenced the recently announced budgetary allocation for the creative arts, noting that modalities for disbursement are on course.

She encouraged creative stakeholders to remain patient as structures are established to ensure equitable support across the sector.

The delegation, led by Kofi Youngman, expressed gratitude to the minister for honouring their earlier invitation to a preview performance and reaffirmed their commitment to building a vibrant theatre ecosystem.

They highlighted ambitious plans for large-scale productions, including an upcoming “Black Star” performance at Independence Square and reiterated their willingness to collaborate closely with the Ministry.

The group also appealed for the Ministry’s guidance and support in elevating their initiatives to national and international platforms, pointing to exploratory engagements with defence and diplomatic partners aimed at expanding future cultural exchanges.

Abla Dzifa Gomashie concluded by encouraging the Africa Arts Network to continue showcasing Ghanaian creativity and to allow their innovation to drive new opportunities for collaboration, reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to the growth of the creative arts sector.

Present at the meeting was the Director for Culture and Creative Arts, Divine Owusu-Ansah.
