Coach Ibrahim Anyass, accused of sexually abusing 16-year-old footballer Ransford Owusu Ansah, has been granted bail by the DOVVSU Court, according to a JoyNews report.

The court set bail at GHS 50,000, with two sureties, pending the case’s progress.

Ransford, who attended the Siano Football Academy in Amasaman, reportedly suffered sexual abuse at the hands of his coach over an extended period.

His mother stated that the young footballer often stayed behind after training under the pretext of “extra sessions,” during which the abuse allegedly occurred.

Over time, she noticed changes in her son’s health and behavior, including withdrawal, sickness, and a general decline in his well-being.

Eventually, Ransford confided in his mother about the abuse. He was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was admitted and later slipped into a coma. Tragically, he died in March 2025.

The bail decision allows Coach Anyass to remain free while the court case continues. According to JoyNews, the matter will proceed through the legal system, and the accused is required to meet the conditions set by the court, including the payment of bail and providing two sureties.

Ransford’s death and the subsequent allegations drew nationwide attention. The bail marks a critical stage in the judicial process, as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s abuse and untimely death.
