Veteran Ghanaian musician Mzbel has revealed that she no longer trusts “friends,” saying constant betrayals have taught her to withdraw from close friendships.
In a recent interview on Aluta FM with Fiifi Pratt, Mzbel said she’s experienced situations where people she considered friends secretly recorded private conversations, then shared them to damage her reputation.
“I don’t have friends anymore. I’ve been in situations where so-called friends will find a way to record you and share the recording to put you in trouble.
“Even if what you said is unproblematic, they will identify it as a problem and use it to tarnish your image,” she said.
I’ve given up on friendships – Mzbel says
She added that now she limits her interactions with people, stating that even though she remains friendly, she only engages in important discussions and refrains from casual chatting.
“So right now, I’ve given up on friendship. I can be friendly with people when I step out, but it ends there. If someone calls me to discuss something important, I will answer. But if the person just wants to chat, I won’t pick up.
“Once you start opening up to people, they will secretly record you and when you have a fallout, they will share it,” she said.
