72 golfers will compete in 2025 Goldfields Damang Open

72 of the finest golfers from Ghana and the rest of the world are set to compete at the 2025 Goldfields Damang Open.

The participating golfers include 45 regulars, 14 seniors and 13 lady professionals from Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Cote d’ivoire, Senegal, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Peter Damuah, captain of the Damang Golf Club, welcomed officials and players to the tournament and expressed hope for a successful event.

He also raised concern about the low participation of women in the sport and encouraged more females, especially young girls, to take up golf, describing it as a potentially rewarding profession.

Steve Robins, Senior Technical Manager of Damang Goldfields welcomed the golfers and wished them a great tournament.

Alhaji Ahmed Padori, Vice President of PGA Ghana described the tournament as special and hailed the players for their commitment and dedication to golf.

He expressed his gratitude to Goldfields Ghana for coming on board again as headline sponsors and thanked them for investing in female golfers.

Rev Akwasi Prempeh, the Course Manager lauded the management and staff of Damang Goldfields for hosting the PGA for the eleventh time.

“I cannot make prediction like previous years because the lineup today is marvelous and anyone can win, I wish them good luck” he said.

Eric Henaku, Tournament Director who was elated with the foreign participation said it brings competition and the best out of the players.

Sampson Arthur, Operations Manager of the Abosso Golf Club, teed off to officially open the memorable event and expressed hope for a successful tournament.

He said the tournament offers a platform to celebrate shared values and strengthen community connections.
