In the first title bout of the quadruple event, #4 by all WBA, IBF, WBO Kosuke Tomioka (12-4-1, 9 KOs), 112, outhustled WBO#9 Atsuki Sano (9-1, 4 KOs), 112, en route to a unanimous decision (99-91 twice, 98-92) over ten heats to retain his WBO Asia Pacific flyweight belt on Thursday in Tokyo. In an all-southpaw confrontation Sano positively dominated the opening session, which, however, awoke the champ and yielded the initiative from then on. Tomioka often utilized his trademark left crosses, effectively hurt Sano and scored a nearly lopsided decision from the viewpoint of the official tallies though it was actually a close affair with Tomioka sweeping those close rounds steadily.

Promoter: Ohashi Promotions.
