The Osino Dis­trict Court last Friday remanded four persons in connection with the alleged mur­der of five people at Asiyaw, near Akwane-Dobro, Nsawam of the Eastern Region.

The suspects were arrested by the Eastern South Region­al Police Command, after the alleged murder of five people that occurred, following shooting incident during a confrontation between two groups over sand winning.

A statement, issued by the police and copied to the Ghana News Agency, identified the suspects as Samuel Atsu Forson, alias Alanyo, Freeheart Kweku Sedonu, Kwesi Prince, and Benja­min Adzalekor.

Forson, Sedonu, and Prince were remanded in prison custody, while Adzalekor was remanded in police custody.

They are expected to reappear before court next Thursday, and the police said, “We would like to assure the general public that the accused will be taken through the due process of the law.”

In another development, the Northern Regional Police Com­mand has arrested three suspects over alleged weapon smuggling in Savelugu, Northern Region.

A statement, issued by the Police Public Affairs Directorate, identified the suspects as Gaba Abdallah Alhassan, Alhassan Abdallah, and Alhassan Abdul Kudus, who were arrested at their hideouts.

The police retrieved an AK-47 refile, a sub machine gun, a Smith & Wesson SD40 VE pistol, a single-barrel shotgun, two magazines, 15 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, 13 rounds of pistol ammunition, 27 additional rounds, and five BB cartridges, according to the statement.

The suspects are in police custody assisting in investiga­tions.
