3 dead, 30 injured in fatal accident at Mampong Abuontem
The tipper truck had two people onboard. Its driver was hurt, while the mate escaped without harm. The Daewoo Matiz was carrying eight passengers. Five suffered different levels of injuries, and the driver plus two others were trapped inside the badly crushed car.
GNFS officers managed to free them, but the Matiz driver died on the scene. The two others later passed away at the hospital.
Witness accounts suggest the Matiz drifted into the path of the approaching tipper truck, causing the deadly impact.
The smaller car was completely destroyed, while the truck sustained damage to its windscreen, bumper, right headlight and fenders. Police supported GNFS personnel in securing the area, clearing the wreckage and restoring traffic flow on the road.
