Nigerian chef and Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, has mentioned that she will need 250 bags of rice for her next challenge, cooking what is expected to be the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.

Baci, who made headlines in 2023 after setting the record for the longest cooking marathon, shared the details in a video posted on Instagram on September 1, 2025.

She explained that the specially designed pot for the attempt has a capacity of 22,619 litres, and her target is to fill it up to at least 75 to 80 percent.

According to her calculations, this requires about 5,278 kilogrammes of raw basmati rice, which translates to 264 bags.

However, she noted that she has decided to work with 250 bags.

“I am making the executive decision to do 250 bags,” she said.

The Nigerian chef also disclosed the quantities of condiments that will go into the dish, noting that the use of tomato paste.

For every kilogramme of rice, between 0.20 and 0.35 kilogrammes of tomato paste is needed, but she explained that she will be working with 0.30.

This, she added, means she will require 1,583 kilogrammes of Gino tomato paste.

Hilda further explained that the idea for this challenge was inspired by a vision she had nearly two years ago.

“Almost two years ago I had the dream to cook the largest pot of Jollof Rice ever made. And now, with @ginonaija and YOU, that dream is coming alive. Because what is Jollof without you to share it with?” she said.
