Asante Kotoko will look to give their supporters something to cheer about on Sunday Asante Kotoko will look to give their supporters something to cheer about on Sunday

Asante Kotoko will look to give their supporters something to cheer about on Sunday when they travel to face Young Apostles at the Wenchi Sports Stadium, following their Super Clash defeat to Hearts of Oak.

Kotoko, currently fifth with 35 points, are attempting to halt a difficult spell that has seen them suffer three consecutive losses, including setbacks against Hearts of Oak, Aduana Stars and Hearts of Lions. Despite the recent slide, the Porcupine Warriors remain among the league’s most potent attacking sides and will be eager to rediscover their scoring touch to stay within reach of the top four.

Young Apostles, meanwhile, enter the contest fighting to keep clear of the relegation zone. They sit just above the drop on goal difference after 22 matches, having recorded six wins, eight draws and eight defeats. Their strength has largely come at home, where they are unbeaten in their last nine matches, a run they will hope to extend against one of the league’s traditional heavyweights.

The Wenchi-based side have scored 21 goals this season, averaging just under one goal per match, while conceding 25. Kotoko’s numbers compare favourably, with 28 goals scored and only 15 conceded in the same number of games, underlining their stronger balance across the campaign.

Recent meetings between the two sides have been closely contested. Since September 2024, they have faced each other three times, with Kotoko claiming one victory and the other two matches ending in draws. Their most recent clash, on November 19, 2025, ended in a 2-1 win for Kotoko, giving them a slight edge in the head-to-head record.

Form, however, offers little comfort for either side. Young Apostles come into the match on the back of a defeat to Bechem United and have managed just five wins in their last 20 outings across all competitions. Kotoko’s record over the same period shows seven wins, seven losses and six draws, reflecting inconsistency that has hampered their push up the table.

Sunday’s encounter therefore presents a significant opportunity for both teams. Young Apostles will rely on their strong home form to secure valuable points in their battle for survival, while Kotoko must respond to recent disappointments and reassert themselves as contenders in the upper half of the standings.
