Two individuals under investigation by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) in the high-profile Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) revenue assurance contract case have filed a human rights suit challenging the OSP’s act of photographing them while holding name placards.

The update was shared on the OSP’s X page on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

“Two suspects in the yet-to-be-filed SML case have filed a human rights action, asking the court to declare that the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) act of photographing them while holding placards bearing their names was unlawful. They are also seeking a declaration that any publication of such photographs would violate their human rights, and an order restraining the OSP from releasing them,” the post read.

OSP denies claims of refusing to help AG extradite Ken Ofori-Atta

Christian Tetteh Sotie, Managing Director of SML and former Technical Advisor to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Commissioner-General, and Isaac Crentsil, former Commissioner of the Customs Division of the GRA and currently a Manager at SML, are seeking legal declarations that the photographing, and any subsequent publication of the images, constitute an unlawful violation of their rights.

The SML–GRA contract, which covers revenue assurance services in sectors such as petroleum and minerals, has come under intense scrutiny over its procurement process and whether it delivered value to the state.

OSP sets record straight on Ken Ofori-Atta’s extradition

Five civil society organisations have previously sued the government and SML, seeking the recovery of over GH¢1 billion, citing breaches of procurement laws.

While the OSP has conducted arrests and searches, including at SML’s offices, no formal charges have yet been filed against the two applicants.
