The 2025 edition will be played over twenty weeks

In 2024, the University of Ghana Sports and Wellness Directorate introduced the University of Ghana Community Games, a platform that seeks to engage the University Community and corporate organizations doing business with the University in sporting activities.

The maiden activity under the UG Community Games was the UG Corporate Football Gala played at the University of Ghana Stadium in November 2024 featuring eight (8) institutions. This was won by The Union Ghana.

The gala is now metamorphosing into the University of Ghana Corporate Football League featuring 16 corporate institutions and will be played over twenty (20) weeks at the main University of Ghana stadium from February – July 2025.

The University of Ghana Sports & Wellness Directorate has met with participating teams and key stakeholders to discuss the road map for the competition. The atmosphere was charged with ambition, as each team reaffirmed their readiness to take the field and stake their claim for the coveted trophy.

As the countdown begins, preparations are in full swing. Teams are fine-tuning their strategies, intensifying training sessions, and rallying their supporters. From seasoned veterans to ambitious newcomers, every squad is coming into the competition with something to prove.

After the stakeholders meeting, representatives from various teams shared their thoughts, reflecting on the fierce competition ahead. Emmanuel Avi from Lancaster expressed confidence in his team’s potential: “We will put in the work to be on top. Our only threat is the Ghana Armed Forces Officers Sports Club, but I know we can beat Telecel.”

Nana Yaw Odame of Union Ghana, brimming with confidence, stated: “We’re winning! What you need to know is that we’re willing the cup to ourselves for the next five years. If anybody wants to win the league, they shouldn’t compete—they should come and negotiate for it.”

Kennedy Ateamene of UG College of Education acknowledged past challenges but expressed optimism: “The zeal is there, and the boys are training hard. Union troubled us so much during the gala, but we will overtake them.”

Daniel Bayakpa of Central Admin voiced determination: “We will match everyone boot for boot. Union is somehow a threat, but we’re preparing for them.”

Other teams, including the Forestry Commission and NPA, showed equal resolve. Eric Ansah of Forestry Commission shared: “Our new CEO is going to play, so expect more from us. I don’t see anyone as a threat, but NPA will come after us, and we’re ready.” Meanwhile, Rocher M.K. Davon of NPA confidently stated: “At NPA, we don’t take things lightly. We’re going to have fun, but we’re always prepared. We train all year.

Kodwo Brumpon of UG Alumni added a personal rivalry to the mix: “We’ve got the team, and we’re coming for the cup. We just want to beat Union home and away, but we’re winning the league.”

Beyond the goals and glory, the University of Ghana Corporate Football League serves as a platform to promote health, community spirit and personal growth. It’s more than just a competition, it’s a celebration of passion, teamwork, and resilience.

The stakes are high, and the energy is unmatched. With every team bringing their A-game, fans can expect a season filled with drama, excitement, and edge-of-your-seat action. From the first whistle to the final showdown, the University of Ghana Corporate Football League is poised to deliver on its promise of excellence.

The battle lines are drawn. The University of Ghana Corporate Football League is more than a competition—it’s a stage where corporate heroes emerge, and communities come alive. Get ready for a season like no other.
