Zuffa Boxing, along with Paramount+, will kick off its highly anticipated first event of the 2026 season with the main event between Irish prospect Callum Walsh (15-0, 11 KOs) and the powerful Mexican Carlos Ocampo (38-3, 26 KOs) at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 23, according to an announcement this Friday by Zuffa’s top executive and UFC CEO, Dana White.
Walsh, 24, is a Dana White favorite and a frequent UFC Fight Pass participant. He even appeared on the Crawford-Álvarez card last September, securing a solid unanimous decision victory over another star, Fernando Vargas Jr.
The 30-year-old Mexican, Ocampo, has won three consecutive fights since his frustrating loss to Australian Tim Tszyu in June 2023. Ocampo is a top contender, having only lost to world champions like Tszyu, Errol Spence Jr., and Sebastian Fundora.
Dana White insists that Zuffa Boxing is the company focused on becoming the best in the new era, with great boxing nights, its own world championships, and a ranking system.
“I’m going to get rid of these organizations that only serve to win every world championship fight. At Zuffa Boxing, only the best will face the best. We’re going to acquire the best prospects and the largest number of boxers.” said White said.
