Zoomlion Ghana Limited has clarified that it is not involved in illegal mining activities, popularly known as galamsey.

In a statement issued on April 25, 2025, the company stated that it neither owns, operates, leases, nor authorizes the use of any equipment for mining purposes.

“We wish to unequivocally state that Zoomlion Ghana Limited is not engaged in, does not support, and has never participated in any illegal mining activity, including galamsey,” the company said.

Zoomlion further explained that the confusion appears to stem from equipment manufactured by a Chinese company that has no affiliation with the Ghanaian waste management firm.

“The public is hereby informed that the equipment in question bears the name ‘Zoomlion’ solely because it is manufactured by Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science and Technology Co. Ltd, a Chinese company. While the brand name is similar, this manufacturer is entirely independent of, and unaffiliated with, Zoomlion Ghana Limited,” the statement clarified.

Zoomlion Ghana Limited called on the general public and regulatory authorities to disregard any misleading associations attempting to link the company to illegal mining operations.

“We strongly distance ourselves from any such activities and from any entities or individuals purporting any association in that regard,” it added.
