Okatakyei Afrifa-Mensah (L) has accused Ken Ofori-Atta (R) of making the NPP unattractive

Ghanaian media personality Okatakyei Afrifa-Mensah has lambasted former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, following his reported detention by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

In a 3-minute footage circulating on X, Okatakyei Afrifa-Mensah accused Ken Ofori-Atta of ruining the image of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to the media personality, the former Minister of Finance, who has been accused of corruption-related offences and alleged to have caused financial losses to the state, has made the political party distasteful and unattractive to people.

“You have made the party look like there are no leaders, so everyone can do whatever he or she wants. When Ken Ofori-Atta was the Minister of Finance, we cautioned him about his poor performance and even called for his resignation, but he made it clear that there was no way he would resign,” he said.

Further criticising the former minister, Okatakyei Afrifa-Mensah noted that Ken Ofori-Atta’s refusal to answer questions about his tenure in office portrays members of the NPP as thieves.

“The fact that you have refused to come and answer questions goes a long way to spoil the image of the NPP. It makes it look like all members of the party are thieves. We warned you while you were doing it. What sort of disgusting behaviour is that?” he stated.

He further urged Ken Ofori-Atta to make himself available to the Ghanaian authorities for questioning, saying this would help restore confidence and trust in the party.

“Right now, the NPP is not what it used to be. It looks distasteful. If he believes he has done nothing wrong, he should come and answer questions so that confidence in the party can be rebuilt,” he added.
