Brazilian legend Ronaldo Nazario has been heavily criticised on social media following comments that Portuguese captain Cristiano Ronaldo is not the Greatest of All Time (GOAT).
Cristiano, in an interview with Piers Morgan, stated that his status as the greatest in history remains intact despite not winning the FIFA World Cup.
This comment stirred debate among sports pundits and footballers, who expressed mixed reactions.
When asked about the remark, Ronaldo Nazario stated that he disagrees with the Al Nassr forward’s assertion, even though he acknowledged Cristiano as one of the best to have played the game.

The legendary Brazilian, who won the World Cup in 1994 and 2002 said that he ranks Cristiano among the top ten footballers in history.
“Some people have a lot of confidence in themselves. I prefer that others talk about me more than me talking about myself. He is part of the best players in history, but is he the best? I am not agreeing. But I respect his opinion; he certainly ranks among the best in history, and I will even say that he is in the top 10.”
This comment sparked fierce backlash from football fans, who accused the former Inter Milan striker of being envious of Cristiano Ronaldo’s achievements, which surpass his own.
They advised Ronaldo Nazario to desist from making remarks that tend to undermine the Real Madrid legend’s legacy in football, urging him to show dignity instead.
Some fans asserted that Nazario is hurt by the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo has overshadowed his reputation in football with his records and accomplishments.
It is worth noting that Ronaldo Nazario won the World Cup twice with Brazil and claimed two Ballon d’Or awards, while Cristiano Ronaldo has won five Ballon d’Or titles but has yet to win the World Cup.
