Ace sports journalist Jerome Otchere has chided Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams for failing to disclose the Black Stars budget for the 2026 World Cup qualifying games against Chad and Madagascar.
President John Dramani Mahama directed that all financial reports by various sports disciplines should be made public, emphasising the Black Stars budget for their games.
However, after the Black Stars won their two games against Madagascar and Chad in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Adams has yet to make the budget for the matches publicly available.
Jerome Otchere accused the sports minister of flouting President Mahama’s directive to disclose the Black Stars budget for the two games.
He criticised the minister for claiming he cannot make the draft budget public, suggesting he could have finalized it earlier instead of delaying its release.
Speaking in an interview with Benjamin Sackey of GhanaWeb Sports, Otchere said, “A lot of the things the sports minister has been saying contradict what the president said. The president instructed that Black Stars budgets should be made public, but the minister says he won’t make it public.
“Now he says he can make the draft budget public, but nobody is asking for the draft budget. The president didn’t specify when to release the budget, but the minister is interpreting his words differently. From my perspective, Kofi Adams isn’t following the president’s instructions.”
