The lecture of a bride’s father at the wedding ceremony got people talking after he declared that a wife doesn’t have to cook for her husband.
A video posted by @galleriafilms recorded the elderly man advising the newlywedded couple, who were smiling and listening attentively to his lecture.
Directing his advice to the groom, the man stated that the groom shouldn’t believe in the culture that says as the head of the family; a man must be dominant and intimidating to maintain his household.
He stressed that a wife didn’t need to cook for her husband which implied that the husband could also engage in basic household chores and prepare meals for his family.
The video has stirred varying reactions online, causing netizens to agree and disagree with the bride’s father’s opinion.
Internet users confirmed that marriage is about two individuals and no one is a slave to the other, hence assisting your partner in certain areas is worthwhile.
While some affirmed that if a woman doesn’t cook for her husband, he shouldn’t provide for the family, others concluded that they would marry a second wife if their woman tried to adhere to such an opinion.
