Asante Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee chairman, Nana Apinkra Akwesi Awuah Asante Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee chairman, Nana Apinkra Akwesi Awuah

Asante Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee chairman, Nana Apinkra Akwesi Awuah, has criticized the police for failing to act proactively in dealing with the situation that led to the death of Francis Frimpong, alias Pooley, a prominent supporter of the club.

Nana Apinkra expressed his disappointment with the police service to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare, during his visit to the club’s headquarters.

He stated that the policemen at the scene failed to apply their first-aid training and instead stood by and watched.

“I know your men are trained and educated in first-aid treatment. But when the incident happened, the policemen were just standing there watching.”

“In some of the videos, one of them was even peeping through the crowd to watch. But I thought the police were there to handle such situations.”

IGP George Akuffo Dampare led a delegation from the Ghana Police Service to pay a visit to Asante Kotoko on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

The delegation visited the club’s headquarters in Kumasi to discuss issues regarding the passing of staunch Kotoko fan Nana Pooley, who was stabbed during the club’s game against Nsoatreman FC on February 2, 2025.
