Asante Kotoko SC grabbed an important away victory over Young Apostles, beating them by 2-0 to halt their two-game winless run in the league.

The Porcupine Warriors started the game on the front foot and needed only six minutes to break the deadlock through Johnson Oppong Owusu – who scored with a brave header from Lord Amoah’s cross.

Their pressure paid off again ten minutes later when Young Apostles defender Claude Shooting Borrtey unfortunately directed the ball into his own net to help the Reds double their lead.

The hosts pushed to find a response but Kotoko remained compact, keeping their shape well and allowing very little room for Young Apostles to create clear chances.

Kotoko managed the second half with composure, protecting their lead and ensuring there was no late scare as they closed out the match professionally.

The home side came so close in certain situations to scoring but Mohammed Camara always equal to the task to rescue his side.

The win has now lifted Asante Kotoko to fourth place on the league table with 38 points, a much-needed boost as they look to build momentum in the remaining rounds.
