Lionel Messi’s goal celebration during Inter Miami’s 2-2 draw with América de México has sparked controversy, as many Mexican fans interpreted his gesture as a taunt. The incident deepened the long-standing rivalry between Argentine and Mexican supporters.

Adding fuel to the fire, Mexican sports legend Adolfo “Bofo” Bautista shared his reaction, criticizing Messi’s behavior.

During the match at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Messi faced relentless boos and jeers from Mexican fans. Frustrated by the hostility, he celebrated his goal by holding up three fingers—a clear reference to Argentina’s three World Cup titles.

In response, Bautista took to Instagram to express his disapproval. While acknowledging his admiration for Messi as a player, he questioned the Argentine’s professionalism and character.

“I looked up to you as a player. But mocking my country shows a lack of professionalism and education,” Bautista wrote in an Instagram story. He also included a photo of himself evading Messi during their 2010 World Cup encounter in South Africa, a match Argentina won 3-1 in the round of 16.
