Governs Kwame Agbodza has accused Assenso-Boakye of failing to deliver as minister Governs Kwame Agbodza has accused Assenso-Boakye of failing to deliver as minister

The Minister of Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has criticised former Minister Francis Asenso-Boakye for failing to complete the Suame Interchange project by December 2024, as promised by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Speaking at a press conference on February 9, 2026, Agbodza said that had the previous administration completed the project as pledged, the current controversy surrounding it would not have arisen.

The Minority, led by the former Roads Minister, had accused the government of reducing the scope of the project from a four-tier interchange to a two-tier one.

In response, the current minister attributed the controversy to delays under the previous administration rather than any shortcomings on the part of the present government.

“Former President Akufo-Addo declared that by the end of 2024, the Suame Interchange project would have been completed and handed over,” Agbodza said.

“If Hon Asenso-Boakye had followed through with President Akufo-Addo’s plan, we would not even be discussing whether the project should be three-tier or four-tier at this stage,” he added.

According to Agbodza, the delays stem from the failure of the former minister and the previous government to deliver on their commitments.

“This delay is due to his failure and the failure of the previous government to deliver. We are committed to completing the project for the benefit of the good people of Kumasi,” he stated.
