Ghanaian media personality Berla Mundi has criticised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following violent incidents during the ongoing Ablekuma North election rerun.
In a post shared on X on July 11, 2025, Berla accused the NDC of deploying thugs to disrupt the electoral process, an act she says mirrors the same behaviour the party once condemned while in opposition.
“You condemn the NPP for unleashing thugs on people during elections only to repeat the same thing? And you want Ghanaians to believe you are any better?” she wrote.
Berla further emphasised that elections are not war zones and condemned the use of violence at polling stations.
She called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of individuals involved in violent acts.
“It’s an election, not a war zone. If you don’t agree with someone’s action or presence, you don’t go beating the person up! These thugs should be arrested and prosecuted!” she added.
Background
The Electoral Commission ordered rerun in 19 polling stations within the Ablekuma North constituency after disputes regarding unauthenticated results from the December 2024 elections popped up.
However, tensions have escalated during the rerun, with reports of voter intimidation, violent clashes, and arrests involving individuals wearing unapproved uniforms.
