Fred Nuamah is the founder and CEO of Ghana Movie Awards Fred Nuamah is the founder and CEO of Ghana Movie Awards

Entertainment pundit Arnold Asamoah Baidoo has urged the organizers of the Ghana Movie Awards to take the event more seriously if they intend to honour movie stars in the country and even around the continent.

He believes the awards scheme has potential, and that the sooner the organizers recognize this and invest time and resources into improving it, the better the results will be.

Arnold Asamoah Baidoo emphasized that the scheme cannot afford to continue with the negative press surrounding it.

Speaking on United Television, Arnold expressed confusion over why Fred Nuamah, the founder of the awards scheme, hasn’t capitalized on the goodwill it has among top actors and actresses.

“The main actors and actresses have a lot of love for Fred Nuamah, and almost every year, the top stars attend the awards, which shows the scheme has potential. But Fred Nuamah isn’t taking full advantage of this goodwill,” he said.

He went on to explain that while the awards scheme may have its flaws, the continued attendance of top actors and actresses shows their desire for the recognition the event offers.

“They know the awards have issues, but they still show up. Fred needs to manage the event better and capitalize on that goodwill. It’s not every award show that gets the crème de la crème to attend, but every year, despite the challenges, they still come and some even stay for the whole event,” he added

Arnold further stated, “Actors want the awards. If you do it right, the Ghana Movie Awards could become as popular as the Ghana Music Awards, especially since there are no other major awards celebrating actors. If done well, it could be one of the most prestigious awards in the country.”
