Hampshire Firefighters were called to what certainly must have been their most obscure rescue of the year on Christmas Day.
Lola, a mare, had become stranded in murky swimming pool water in Swanmore.
The Botley firefighters were first called to the seen shortly after 10am on Christmas morning.
Coming to the horses aid, fire crews and specialist animal rescue teams arrived on the scene of where Lola had accidentally become stuck.
A Manitou forklift from Eastleigh and an animal specialist unit from Winchester were also called in to assist in Lola’s rescue operation.
After hatching a rescue plan, emergency services managed to hoist the distressed animal out of the pool and back to safety.
This carefully executed plan included a vet being called to help sedate Lola so she could be properly maneouvered without injury out of the water.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service have since shared that Lola is back on the mend and enjoying the freedom of dry land in a neighbouring field.
