Nollywood actress Funke Akindele encourages people struggling with mental health to embrace openness and their inner strength rather than silence.

The 47-year-old actress emphasized the need to speak up about mental health issues to receive the necessary support in a post she shared on Twitter (X).

    She wrote,

“Let them say you’re oversharing!! Let them think you talk too much!! But speak up!!! Because when you’re alive, there’s a solution. Silence can be deadly, but words can save You are stronger than you think. You are braver than you feel.  You are loved more than you know. Speak up, stay alive!!.”

According to her encouraging message, people who are struggling shouldn’t worry about what the public thinks or does if they speak up.

She emphasized that being silent is fatal; speaking up while one is still alive will provide the necessary solution. Akindele stressed that ending one’s life is not an option in her pleasant closing remarks.

While some netizens agreed to the actress’s plea, others speculated that public criticism is one of the biggest reasons individuals struggling with mental health will prefer to remain silent.
