Young Ghanaian actor John Peasah, popularly known as Drogba from the hit television series YOLO, has appealed to the public, particularly religious groups, to stop inviting him to their churches as he continues to battle a severe medical condition.

The actor has, in recent years, been living with a demyelinating disease, a chronic neurological condition that affects the nerves in the brain, eyes, and spinal cord.

The illness, which has no cure and can only be managed, can result in impaired mobility, loss of vision and other life-altering complications.

Peasah’s condition has significantly affected his ability to walk without assistance.

In August 2024, the actor reportedly received spiritual prayers from Pastor Enoch Ofori Boamah, leader of the Christ Embassy Airport City Youth Church (CECY), during a Friday Night Miracle Service.

His sister later testified in church that Drogba had experienced profound healing following the prayer session.

However, nearly a year after the testimony, Peasah has publicly clarified that he did not receive an instant miracle cure.

He explained that although he felt some relief after the service, his healing has been gradual rather than immediate.

“What I experienced was progressive healing, not an instant cure,” he noted, adding that the miscommunication surrounding his condition has led to an overwhelming number of church invitations in his social media inbox.

“In the name of God, I humbly request that you please keep me away from any further invitations to other churches. My DM is getting full of invites. This isn’t about comparing power or influence—it’s about my well-being. I’ve been through a lot and want to avoid any more controversy,” he appealed.

The inaccurate reports regarding his supposed instant healing have also negatively affected his $280,000 medical fundraiser, which he launched to support the long-term treatment of his condition. Donations reportedly stalled after the public assumed he had fully recovered.

Peasah is now renewing his plea for financial support, emphasizing that he remains hopeful for complete healing and continues to trust in God’s power.

“I’ve moved forward and am grateful to have had the chance to clear things up. I believe in God’s miracles and power, and I pray for healing. Please help me get the medical treatment I need during this time,” he said.
