Media personality and entertainment critic, Yaa Yeboah, has criticised Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale for using the Homowo Festival stage in Osu to downplay the importance of education.

On August 26, 2025, Shatta Wale performed at the Hydout Pub as part of the festival celebration. In the middle of his set, he paused to address the crowd and went on a rant about leaders and the education system.

According to him, society has been deceived into taking schooling seriously when, in his view, it does not translate into real-life benefits.

He told the audience that what he had learned in school had no use on the ‘street.’

“This country Wey we dey, them no want make it go well. Them no want make you make money well. Them no want make you buy house well. They only come lie you go to school, fu*ck school. Everything I learn for school, Ino see am for street,” Shatta Wale stated.

In reaction to this, Yaa Yeboah took to her X page on August 28 to call out Shatta Wale.

She said it is ironic for someone in his position to dismiss the value of education, especially given moments in his life where education, even indirectly, played a role in protecting him.

To support her point, she referenced Shatta Wale’s encounter with the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), where he was detained to assist in investigations involving a Lamborghini suspected to be linked to fraud.

Referring to the instance where EOCO reported that Shatta Wale declined to speak until his lawyer arrived, Yaa Yeboah questioned how the musician could publicly undermine education while depending on a lawyer, someone who spent years in formal education and legal training, to defend him in a critical moment.

“Funny how some of your fav artists can stand on stage and rubbish school, acting like education doesn’t matter. Yet when EOCO picked you up, the first thing you said was, ‘I’m waiting for my lawyer before I speak.’ That lawyer you’re relying on? He went to school, studied hard, and earned his certificate to practice law. The same schooling you rubbishing is now your shield,” she wrote.
