A local GOP lawmaker is embroiled in a battle with her ex-partner after he accused her of failing to pay him thousands of dollars for an extravagant leopard and elephant hunting trip in Zimbabwe.

Nina Webber’s ex-partner, Scott Weber, filed a small-claims lawsuit in a Wyoming circuit court, claiming the state representative owed him $6,000 for a hunting trip they never took.

Nina, 61, and Scott, 70, were together for almost a decade and had been on two safari hunting trips to South Africa and Zimbabwe, according to court records obtained by Cowboy State Daily.

Scott claimed that he paid for plane tickets and his girlfriend later reimbursed him, but she failed to do so for their most recent trip.

He testified that he bought the tickets for the wild safari trip on December 13, 2024, less than a week after Nina won her seat in the Wyoming House of Representatives.

Scott said he asked Nina to reimburse him for the trip, but she said she wanted to wait until after Donald Trump‘s inauguration in hopes the economy would improve.

However, months later, she allegedly told Scott that she didn’t think she could go on the trip due to her committee meetings in the spring.

Scott told the court that he believed Nina knew her congressional schedule before they booked the trip.

He added that their relationship hit a ‘breaking point’ in late June when he confronted Nina about the payments.

‘You haven’t been paying me rent. You haven’t been taking care of this place at all. I think it’s time for you to hit the road,’ Scott said he told Nina during his testimony, as reported by Cowboy State Daily.

‘But … before you leave, I need you to put a check for $6,000 on the kitchen counter along with the keys – and she didn’t either,’ Scott added.

However, Nina told a different story about how the trip unfolded. She recalled their safari in 2023, adding that it ‘never’ crossed her mind to return to Zimbabwe with Scott.

She testified that she felt unsafe on the trip that he planned. Nina recalled a harrowing tale of a black mamba entering the camp where they stayed.

A black mamba is a highly venomous snake native to sub-Saharan Africa. Nina said a camp attendant had shot the snake.

She added that there weren’t any law enforcement agents near where she and Scott slept, though her ex disputed that.

Nina also said that she felt threatened by the locals and didn’t want to get off the hunting truck.

‘It did become very clear that with this safari … the natives had seen hunters. What they didn’t see was blond-haired, blue-eyed, female hunters. That was apparent,’ she testified.

Nina added that the 2023 hippo-hunting trip negatively affected their relationship and made her reluctant to go away with him again.

After their breakup, Nina moved out of the home they had shared and was forced to leave the district she represented.

She gave up her committeewoman seat this month, party chair Vince Vanata confirmed to Cowboy State Daily.

However, Nina still serves as the Wyoming GOP’s committeewoman to the Republican National Committee.

The case is being heard in the Cody Circuit Court under Judge Joseph Darrah. The first hearing was on November 12, and the second day is set for December 10.

This isn’t the first time Nina was thrust into a legal battle. In 2023, she was accused of recklessly firing her rifle during an elk hunt, but was cleared of those charges, as reported by the Powell Tribune at the time.

‘As you know, it’s been “open season” on conservative Republicans, and I was the victim of a political “hit job” by virtue of being the Republican National Committeewoman for Wyoming,’ she said in a statement at the time.

The former sheriff denied that the charges were motivated and said he wasn’t involved in the case.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Nina Webber for comment.
