World Aquatics has rejected a request by Ghana’s Ministry of Sports and Recreation and the National Sports Authority (NSA) to establish a Stabilization Committee for the Ghana Swimming Association (GSA).
The development was disclosed by Sports Minister Kofi Adams on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, amid ongoing concerns surrounding the administration of swimming in the country.
According to the Minister, the proposal was submitted in an attempt to address governance challenges and restore stability within the association. However, World Aquatics declined the request, insisting that the matter should be resolved in accordance with the federation’s regulations and structures.
The decision is expected to affect efforts by local sports authorities to reorganize the management of swimming in Ghana ahead of upcoming international competitions.
The Ghana Swimming Association has faced administrative disputes in recent months, prompting calls for intervention from stakeholders within the sporting community. Officials are yet to announce the next line of action following the rejection by World Aquatics.
