Ghanaian singer and songwriter, Cina Soul, has stated that women in the music industry work “ten times harder” than their male colleagues.

Speaking during a panel discussion on TV3’s Ladies’ Circle, the Ojorley hitmaker emphasised the unequal playing field women navigate in the entertainment space.

Cina Soul also emphasised that although female musicians put in immense effort, they often do not receive the same level of recognition or support as their male peers, making it even more difficult for them to thrive in the industry.

“I feel like we work ten times harder than the boys. Anyone can argue, but personally, that’s how I feel. We have to work harder because the attention is always on us.

“The littlest things we do can be blown out of proportion. We work very hard; we just need more support,” she said.

She also reflected on her personal growth and a milestone in her music career, pointing to a new level of consistency in releasing her songs.

“For a long time in my career, I barely dropped three songs within a year, but for the first time last year, I dropped three songs in the year,” she said.
