A woman’s dedication to a clean view has seen her labelled ‘absolutely crazy stupid’.
A video of a woman on the Gold Coast cleaning her windows on the 16th floor of the Peninsula Building in Surfers Paradise was shared on Friday.
Rather than cleaning the windows from inside, the woman had balanced a chair on the outside ledge, and stood on it, to fully clean the glass.
Terrifying footage showed the woman confidently reaching up to wipe the glass, in spite of the massive drop below her while not wearing any sort of safety harness.
The witness who shot the video later said they were ‘too shocked’ to film how high she was, but assured commenters they called triple-0 to inform them of the situation.
Hundreds of commenters were horrified by the short clip, with one musing that she ‘must be unwell’ while another pointed out that ‘if you don’t fall, it should be fine’.
‘Just let the body corporate do their semi-annual clean,’ another said.
‘Imagine risking your life just to clean a window,’ another wrote.

Another commenter was more blunt in their response, writing: ‘Nope!’
One commenter questioned why the woman was able to get out her window onto the ledge.
‘Wow. Thought there was a building code rule that windows like that must not be able to open far enough to allow a body to access outside,’ they wrote.
Another replied: ‘There is. But this is an old building, before the code. My apartment block is the same. I have tradesmen point out my windows being unsafe frequently.’
The Australian Building Code requires fall prevention devices for openable windows in new residential buildings where apartments are more than two metres off the ground.
