File photo: Afia financed her marriage, only to face neglect and betrayal File photo: Afia financed her marriage, only to face neglect and betrayal

A young banker, identified as Afia, has shared a heartbreaking tale of her distressing marital experiences with her pastor husband.

In a shocking interview on Secret TV with Pastor Prince, Afia revealed how she financed their marriage due to her husband’s financial constraints, only to face neglect and betrayal.

Recounting how their relationship began, she explained how they met at the Achimota Forest, and started dating, leading to her pregnancy and their subsequent marriage.

“We had a relationship for about one year. And then later, he went to see my family that he wanted to get married to me. But before that, when we were in a relationship, he got me pregnant. And because he’s a pastor, I cannot, I mean, keep the pregnancy while he’s not married to me.

“And because he doesn’t do anything apart from his ministry, he doesn’t have much finances. I’m a banker, so I organised some money. And then we went to see my family and then we took a list and we bought everything with my money,” she narrated.

Despite her financial support, including paying for their engagement and household expenses, she said her husband failed to contribute significantly.

She said she even took out a mortgage to cover their rent.

The situation worsened when Afia’s younger sister reported that her husband made inappropriate advances towards her.

“My husband didn’t even do anything to support, sometimes when he is in the house. I would be expecting my man to help me take care of the child. But he wouldn’t. So, I went to bring in my little sister to come and support the home.

“After a while, my younger sister told me that whenever I was not around, my husband would try to have an affair with her. I didn’t believe her because I loved him,” she narrated.

Afia narrated how she later discovered conversations proving that her husband never loved her.

“Later on, I realized there was something fishy, I overheard him talking to some people saying, ‘My wife. I don’t love her and all sort of things and even the people that I brought to marry her were strangers’, I heard all that,” she said.

Adding to her woes, Afia disclosed that her husband sold her car without her knowledge.

Despite her efforts to support him, he continued to neglect his responsibilities, leaving her to manage their household and child alone.

“It’s not every time that I even get money to take care of something. There’s some woman who sells food items. Sometimes, I’ll go and credit food from that woman. And this man would come and eat without asking me where I got the money from. Sometimes I call my friends to ask for money and then I’ll cook for him. It’s too much,” she lamented.

In her emotional plea, she expressed her desire for her husband to remarry her properly if he truly loves her, emphasising the sacrifices she made out of love and the need for him to take responsibility.

“I don’t trust my husband, he’s capable of doing a lot of things. I was just doing all those things out of love.

“If he claims that he loves me, he should find money and then remarry me. Let’s go to his family. I want to know his family,” she said.

After hearing the story, an infuriated Pastor Prince described the man as “wicked” and a liar.

He also lambasted Afia, accusing her of rushing into marriage out of “stupid love”.

He further advised women not to “assume the role of men” by paying their own bride price.
