A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of abduction of a schoolgirl who vanished on Sunday.

The 14-year-old girl was reported missing, having last been seen on CCTV in Rotherham town centre at around 7pm.

Earlier today a 60-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of abduction. They both remain in police custody.

Officers said they had gone door-to-door in search of the schoolgirl and trawled local CCTV and phone records.

At around 4pm today, police confirmed they had located her, safe and well.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: ‘Following appeals for information posted in the past couple of days, we can confirm that missing Rotherham teenager Cassidy has been found safe and well.

‘Thank you to everyone who shared our appeals – your support is always appreciated.’
