    TikTok has temporarily limited live late-night streams in Nigeria TikTok has temporarily limited live late-night streams in Nigeria

    TikTok has suspended Nigerians from accessing the live feature at night following a recent rise in online sexual misconducts

    The message was sent to Nigerians on Monday, through an in-app system notification, in which the company said it was conducting a safety review without a timeline for restoring the feature

    The message read “TikTok is temporarily limiting live late night in Nigeria as part of our investigation to ensure our platform remains safe and our community stays protected” it said

    “View once” as they call it, is where streamers engage in explicit acts to larger online audiences in exchange for virtual gifts while others organise coordinated adult shows aimed at generating rapid payouts from the platform’s gifting system.

    Meanwhile, netizens have expressed concerns about the development, noting that patrons who use livestreams for genuine content and business will also be

    affected.
