Former Black Stars midfielder, Sulley Muntari has disclosed that he has stepped away from football-related activities to focus on his personal life.

According to him, after retiring from football he chose to stay at home and enjoy life for a while so he could rest properly and focus on living healthily.

Speaking in an interview with Michael Oti Adjei, the former Inter Milan midfielder noted that staying away from the limelight does not affect him in any way, as he is not obsessed with fame.

“So for now, I’m just resting, not thinking about anything in sports, but focusing on the business side of what I want to do. I know that a lot of people say the most difficult thing for someone who has spent so much time in football is adjusting to life outside of it. But for me, it’s not difficult because during my playing time I never allowed fame to get into my head.”

“Basically, I didn’t like the limelight. It was just football and then home. Sometimes I partied with my friends, but nothing crazy. That’s what I chose. So stepping away from football and living a normal life was easy for me because even during my playing days, that’s how I lived,” he said.

Muntari hinted that he could return to football in the next few years to pursue a career path within the sport.

“In the future, maybe in the next two, three, or four years I’ll be back in football because it’s basically my life. I have some knowledge, things I’ve learned, and experiences from great coaches I worked under,” he added.

Sulley Muntari announced his retirement from football in November 2022 at the age of 38.

He earned 80 caps for the Black Stars and scored 20 goals, with his last club being Ghana Premier League side Hearts of Oak.
