Reggae musician Rocky Dawuni has received several Grammy Awards nominations
Legendary music producer, Appietus born Appiah Dankwah has disclosed that getting Grammy Awards nominations depends on having friends who can recommend your works.
“As for the Grammys, it is an academy of peers who are friends and people who know each other, and they sit down and nominate their friends,” he told Amansan Krakye as MyNewsGh.com monitored.
According to the renowned sound engineer, Rocky Dawuni has been nominated constantly because he’s got peers inducted among the academy members.
He stated, “Basically, that’s what it is, so if you’re not part of the academy or you don’t have friends there, you can’t be nominated because you’ve to be inducted into it.
“You can only bring your works when you’re inducted, and two people can recommend your works by justifying your impact from your continent.
“If you don’t have anybody who will take your work there, you’ll never be nominated, so seeing Rocky Dawuni there means someone has been nominating him constantly,” he said.
