Boxing promoter Alex Ntiamoah has called on President John Dramani Mahama to appoint former Member of Parliament for Odododiodioo constituency, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, as the Minister of Sports and Recreation.

According to him, Vanderpuye has the necessary expertise to hold football officials accountable.

The boxing promoter further asserted that the former sports minister will focus on elevating lesser-known sports and improving their finances, rather than prioritizing football.

In an interview with JoyNews, Ntiamoah urged President Mahama to appoint Nii Lante to lead the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, ensuring transparency and accountability in the sector.

“President Mahama has promised Ghanaians that he will ensure government funds are used judiciously. I believe Nii Lante can break the cartel that spends government money recklessly and get the best out of it.

“I recommend him as the ideal sports minister, as he can benefit not only football but also boxing and other underfunded sports,” Ntiamoah said.

President Mahama has yet to appoint his Minister of Sports and Recreation.

Nii Lante, Dr. Randy Abbey, and other personalities are reportedly being considered for the role by the president.
