Ghanaian musician Sista Afia has weighed in on why many men shy away from pursuing romantic relationships with female celebrities.

In a Facebook post on February 2, 2026, the singer said many men admire female celebrities from afar but often lack the courage to make a move, not because of a lack of interest, but due to fear, intimidation, and societal pressure.

“Many men quietly admire female celebrities from a distance but never dare to step closer. Not because they don’t feel anything, but because they feel too much fear, intimidation, doubt, and pressure,” she explained.

According to Sista Afia, one major factor is lifestyle. She noted that the demanding nature of a musician’s career, including late nights, travel, and constant public engagements tend to intimidate men who usually prefer stability.

“A musician’s life is demanding, late nights, rehearsals, tours, studio sessions, and constant travel. It can feel overwhelming for someone who values routine or stability. Loving a celebrity means understanding that time is often shared with a career, an audience, and a calling,” she continued.

She also pointed out public scrutiny, explaining that relationships involving celebrities are often closely watched and judged by the public, a situation not every man is prepared to handle.

“Every move is watched. Every mistake is amplified. Every relationship becomes a topic for discussion. Not every man is prepared to love loudly in a world that constantly whispers, judges, and speculates,” she said.

Why Sista Afia has not been in a ‘committed’ relationship for nearly a decade

Touching on finances, the singer clarified that fame does not always guarantee financial stability, and that this can place additional pressure on men, especially in cultures where they are expected to be financially secure at all times.

“Income can rise and fall, and success can be seasonal. For some men, this uncertainty creates pressure especially in cultures where men feel expected to always ‘have it all figured out,’” she noted.

However, Sista Afia stressed that beyond these, the main issue is fear.

“Fear of comparison. Fear of public scrutiny. Fear of standing beside a woman who shines so brightly,” she added.

She reminded men that behind the fame, female celebrities are still human beings who desire genuine love, loyalty, and emotional security.

“Dear men, Please, don’t overthink our celebrity status. Don’t shrink yourself before even trying. Show us real love, pure love. Stand with us. Protect us emotionally. When challenges come and they will stand behind us and safeguard us. We don’t need perfection. We need presence. We don’t need intimidation. We need courage. Don’t be scared of us oooo,” she concluded.
