Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister in charge of Government Communications, has criticised the popular current affairs program, Good Evening Ghana, calling it a shadow of its former self.

He further accused the host of Good Evening Ghana, Paul Adom-Otchere, of turning the platform into a propaganda outlet for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Appearing on the October 10, 2025, edition of Good Morning Ghana, another current affair show on the same TV station, Kwakye Ofosu downplayed the show’s current credibility and national impact.

Suspended CJ’s press statement is a ‘regrettable’ event – Felix Ofosu Kwakye

“What you do at Good Evening Ghana these days cannot pass as the credible, leading current affairs program on TV,” the minister stated.

He, however, established that he respects the host’s right to his political views, which he noted “has always been known.”

Kwakye Ofosu lamented the alleged transformation of the platform.

“We still would have respected the platform that he had on Good Evening Ghana, where leading figures, newsmakers, luminaries in society appeared to discuss important national matters.

“Then before long, especially when President Akufo Addo rose to power, suddenly that thing has become an NPP outlet, where bizarre, sometimes outrageous propaganda is churned out,” he decried.

Kwakye Ofosu accused the Adom-Otchere of using social media content as fact without critical evaluation.

“These days, he will go and pick Facebook posts of NPP propaganda and come and brandish it as fact, you know, and if you are not lucky, you will be dressed down on that show without any opportunity to even respond,” he said.

He insisted that his critique was not simply about the host being a member of the NPP, but about the quality of the journalism.

“Clearly, it is not what it used to be. He certainly must do something about Good Evening Ghana if he wants to go back to the period where it was a highly respectable [show]. Currently, it is not,” he said.

Meanwhile, Paul Adom-Otchere, who was also a panelist on the same show swiftly responded to the claims.

Though he indicated that he stood by the quality and influence of his show, which has been running since 2001, he noted that he views Kwakye Ofosu’s claims as feedback necessary to shape his program.

“We believe that we are still the topmost current affairs conversation every Tuesday and Thursday. That’s what we believe,” he stated.

CJ Suspension: Linking 1982 judges’ murder to hearing is most disingenuous – Kwakye Ofosu

Addressing the minister’s comments directly, Adom-Otchere framed the criticism as constructive feedback.

“If an important person like an MP and a minister who describes himself as a former viewer and that he doesn’t like the format of the program anymore because it is not just political, it is comical, it doesn’t raise real issues, it doesn’t analyse much. We take that as feedback,” he said.
