Real Madrid will lock horns with Borussia Dortmund in the quarterfinals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

This highly anticipated matchup is scheduled to take place on July 6, 2025, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.

The game will be a rematch of the 2024 Champions League final, where Madrid won a record-extending 15th title after beating the German side 2-0 at Wembley Stadium.

Real Madrid, led by new manager Xabi Alonso, secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Juventus at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, thanks to a solo goal from rising striker Gonzalo García.

This win booked their spot in the quarterfinals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Gonzalo García’s solo goal proved enough for Real Madrid to beat Juventus 1-0 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, with García now scoring three goals in the tournament.

He filled the gap left by Kylian Mbappé, who made his first appearance off the bench after recovering from acute gastroenteritis.

In a separate match at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Borussia Dortmund edged out Monterrey 2-0, with Serhou Guirassy scoring a brace assisted by Karim Adeyemi.

Hours later, at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, a brace from Serhou Guirassy helped Dortmund beat Mexican side Monterrey. Both goals were assisted by Karim Adeyemi.

German Berterame pulled one back in the second half, but Nico Kovac’s side held on to sail through to the quarters.

The Real Madrid matchup against Dortmund could have had a different touch to it had both Bellingham brothers been available to play.

However, the younger brother, Jobe Bellingham, will be suspended for the quarter-final game this weekend.

According to FIFA’s rules, a player who receives yellow cards in two different games will face an automatic one-match suspension.

However, these yellow cards are reset after the quarterfinals, meaning players won’t miss the final due to accumulated yellows unless they receive a red card in the semifinals.

If a player has a yellow card before the quarterfinals and picks up another in the quarterfinals, they’ll miss the semifinals.

For example, Jude Bellingham isn’t directly mentioned but if a player like Jude Bellingham’s teammate Jobe picked up a second yellow card in the Round of 16 against Monterrey, he would miss the quarterfinals.

His other booking came in their last group game against Ulsan HD.

The 19-year-old signed for the Yellow Wall on June 10, following in his brother’s footsteps.

The older Bellingham made 92 appearances for Dortmund, where he developed into one of the most sought-after midfielders in the world before Real Madrid came knocking.

Jobe was fresh from an impressive campaign with Sunderland, where he starred in the team that earned promotion back to the Premier League.
