A Political Science Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Dr Joshua Jebuntie Zaato, has questioned the decision by Global Info Analytics to exclude Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang from its recent survey on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential race ahead of the 2028 general elections, according to a report by 3news.com.

Professor Naana Jane is fine, she will resume duty shortly – President Mahama shares

Speaking on TV3’s The KeyPoints on Saturday, October 5, Dr Zaato expressed surprise that the Vice President, who was President John Dramani Mahama’s running mate, was not included in the poll, despite her high-profile role in the administration.

“Why is the President so popular in the party, and the Vice President is not? Why was she not polled?” he fumed.

Dr Zaato’s concerns followed an explanation by Mussa Dankwah, Executive Director of Global Info Analytics, who clarified that the recent poll focused only on key personalities who scored at least 10 per cent in their tracking surveys.

According to Dankwah, the shortlisted names included NDC gurus Haruna Iddrisu, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson and Julius Debrah, figures who, based on preliminary data, are viewed as strong potential contenders for the NDC’s 2028 flagbearer slot.

“You and I may have opinions about who the potential candidates are, but in our data, these four were the only individuals who crossed the 10 per cent threshold in the tracking polls,” Dankwah said.

The Global Info Analytics survey showed Haruna Iddrisu, Minister of Education, leading the NDC’s internal race with 30%, followed by National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia with 24%, and Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson at 18%.

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah secured 10%, while Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa polled 8%.

Others, including Eric Opoku, Joshua Alabi, Armah Kofi Buah, Kwame Awuah-Darko, and Spio Garbrah, recorded between 1% and 2% support.
