Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC

The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, widely known as Nana B, has condemned the continued detention of the party’s Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC.

Addressing the media on Friday, September 12, 2025, Nana B accused the government of using state machinery to intimidate NPP supporters. He also questioned the heavy police presence during Baffoe’s court appearance.

The ‘sins’ of Abronye DC

“Policemen fully armed to the teeth. Is he a terrorist? Has he committed treason? Is this a reasonable offense? Look, even when we were in court, we saw a news item where, for instance, Azoka, who actually threatened to kill the Minority Leader, was arrested, granted bail the same day, and directed to appear in court later.

“In fact, we even have the Communications Officer for the NDC who openly said they are looking to kill me, the Minority Leader, and Annoh-Dompreh. The video is viral. The NPP officially petitioned the IGP, signed by the General Secretary, and as we speak, we have not even received any official correspondence from the police. This is somebody who says he’s going to kill us and is still free,” he remarked.

Abronye remanded again

Nana B also criticised the handling of Baffoe’s case.

“We have somebody who’s been slapped with charges, which are misdemeanors, and yet the person is being treated as if he’s a hardened criminal. Very unfortunate. It looks like this unfair application of the law, the bias, is becoming too much. We are going to rise up against this unfortunate treatment. It looks like state institutions are being weaponised. 100 policemen, fully armed to the teeth,” he said.

Kwame Baffoe has been remanded into prison custody on charges of offensive conduct conducive to the breach of public peace and publication of false news.

He is expected to reappear in court on September 19, 2025.
