    (L) MC Yaa Yeboah questions Akosua Serwaa’s lawsuit timing after Lumba’s death (L) MC Yaa Yeboah questions Akosua Serwaa’s lawsuit timing after Lumba’s death

Entertainment critic and media personality MC Yaa Yeboah has questioned the timing of the lawsuit filed by the late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba’s wife, Akosua Serwaa, asking why she waited until after the musician’s death to take legal action.

Speaking on Peace FM on October 11, 2025, MC Yaa Yeboah said Akosua Serwaa should have pursued a case of bigamy against Daddy Lumba while he was still alive if she believed her marriage had been violated.

According to her, it is confusing for Akosua Serwaa to wait until after Lumba’s passing to file a lawsuit preventing his family from proceeding with funeral arrangements.

Six key revelations from Fosu family’s letter on Lumba’s marriage and funeral dispute

She argued that if Serwaa cherished her husband and valued their relationship, she should have acted earlier when the musician could respond to her claims.

“I will never give lawyers my money to fight over a dead body. We have been here since January 2025, and if Akosua Serwaa knew that her late husband Daddy Lumba meant something to her and she cherished their love, why didn’t she sue Daddy Lumba for bigamy when he was alive?

“She never spoke about bigamy, and now that the iconic musician is dead, you have filed an injunction to stop the family from organising his final funeral rites. Litigation takes years. I will support any decision she takes to fight for the properties due to her and her children because she was married to Daddy Lumba,” she said.

MC Yaa Yeboah mentioned that her only concern is the delay the lawsuit may cause to the singer’s burial.

She noted that the Fosu Royal Family, headed by Abusua-Panin Kofi Owusu, should be allowed to continue with preparations for the funeral scheduled for December 6, 2025, to ensure that the late musician receives a proper farewell.

“My only concern is that the funeral arrangements should proceed as planned so that the late Daddy Lumba would be buried on 6 December 2025 and not kept in the fridge for a long time. If you could not fight to take care of him while he was alive, why are you fighting over his dead body to determine when he should be buried?” she said.

Akosua Serwaa Fosu, the first wife of the late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba, who passed on July 26, 2025, filed a lawsuit at the Kumasi High Court through her lawyer, William Kusi, of Dominion Chambers.

In the suit, Akosua Serwaa is seeking a declaration that she is the only surviving spouse of the late musician, citing that they were legally married under German law on December 23, 2004, a monogamous union that remained valid until his death on July 26, 2025.

She has also asked the court to restrain Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as Odo Broni, from presenting herself as Daddy Lumba’s widow.

The suit further names Abusua-Panin Kofi Owusu of Abuakwa-Kumasi and Transitions Funeral Home as defendants, seeking to prevent them from taking custody of the late musician’s body or performing his funeral rites.

Akosua Serwaa’s legal team argues that since her marriage to Lumba was conducted under a monogamous system in Germany, any claim of another marriage by the musician is “legally impossible.”
