Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State has reminded Ghanaians that corruption remains one of the greatest obstacles to the nation’s development.
Speaking at the Asogli Yam Festival on Sunday October 5, 2026, Togbe Afede stressed the importance of honesty and integrity in driving national progress.
Corruption, argued, is not just a political issue but a moral one, arising from the widespread failure to uphold honesty and integrity.

Togbe Afede stressed that both political and traditional authorities must model truthfulness, as ethical leadership is the foundation for a just, peaceful, and prosperous society.
“Corruption has been a stumbling block to our development, and it is the result of our inability to hold on to the path of truth, the path of strictest honesty.
“That is why the theme for today’s durbar focuses on honesty, focuses on unity, peace and prosperity. Together in unity and prosperity we build a just, peaceful, prosperous nation,” Togbe Afede said.

The 2025 celebration, which was held in Ho in the Volta Region also coincided with the 22nd anniversary of Togbe Afede XIV’s enstoolment as Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State.
It was held on the theme, “Together in Honesty and Purpose, We Build a Just, Peaceful and Prosperous Nation,”
The event brought together traditional leaders, diplomats, government officials, and political figures, including the Vice President, Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.
