President John Dramani Mahama has urged Ghana’s newly appointed ambassadors and envoys to serve as champions of the nation’s economic diplomacy.
Speaking at their swearing-in ceremony on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the Jubilee House, President Mahama emphasised the critical role of the envoys in advancing Ghana’s interests abroad.
President Mahama sets performance standards for Ghanaian diplomats
“I expect you to be vanguards of Ghana’s economic diplomacy. Let your missions become dynamic hubs for export promotion, investment attraction, tourism, marketing, innovative change, and diaspora mobilization. Carry Ghana’s story to the world not just as a beacon of democracy and stability, but also as a land of opportunity, open for business, embracing technology, and committed to partnerships that deliver prosperity for our youth and dignity for our working class,” he said.

The President further stressed that their responsibilities extend beyond representation.
“Strong leadership and sound administration are essential. Your staff must be guided with fairness, respect, and a sense of shared purpose. The image of Ghana abroad is shaped not only by what you say, but also by how you manage, serve, and uphold the dignity of every Ghanaian citizen under your care. Integrity must be your watchword. The Public Financial Management Act and all relevant regulations must guide your stewardship of public resources entrusted to you,” he noted.
