Hiplife musician turned evangelist Papa Shee has shed light on the origins of the dispute between the late Daddy Lumba’s two wives, Akosua Serwaa and Odo Broni.

In an interview with Zionfelix on December 10, 2025, Papa Shee, who has openly supported Akosua Serwaa, walked through how the tension between the late musician’s family members began.

According to him, when Daddy Lumba passed away, his first wife, Akosua Serwaa, returned to Ghana from Germany but did not stay in her late husband’s home. Instead, she stayed at the residence of business mogul Kennedy Agyapong, a friend of Daddy Lumba, to avoid any potential confrontation with the late singer’s second wife, Odo Broni.

Papa Shee said the conflict escalated after a DLFM employee launched an indirect insult at Akosua Serwaa live on air.

The employee reportedly claimed he recognised only Odo Broni as the legitimate wife of Daddy Lumba, who owned the station.

He explained that he reached out to Lumba’s manager, Roman Fada, to ask why such an incident had been allowed to happen. Roman Fada apologised and told him he had instructed the team to take the video of the DLFM employee from social media.

“I asked why the young man disrespected Akosua Serwaa. Roman apologised and said he had made sure the video was deleted. I warned them not to go down that path and to be extra careful,” Papa Shee recounted.

He added that further issues arose during the period of family visits after the singer’s death. When visitors arrived to commiserate, family members were introduced one by one. At those gatherings, according to Papa Shee, Roman Fada would introduce Odo Broni as “the wife of Daddy Lumba,” but when it came to Akosua Serwaa, he would simply say, “This is Akosua Serwaa, a German borga,” without acknowledging her as a wife. Combined with the earlier DLFM incident, this reinforced the perception that Akosua Serwaa was being sidelined and not recognised as a spouse.

The dispute deepened following Daddy Lumba’s passing on July 26, 2025, and the one-week observance on August 30, 2025. Shortly after the one-week observance, Akosua Serwaa filed a lawsuit against the family head, Kofi Owusu, and Odo Broni, whose private name is Priscilla Ofori.

She asked the court to declare her the only legal surviving spouse of the legendary musician and to bar the second wife from being recognised as such.

After nearly a month of hearings, the Kumasi High Court declined to grant her request. Justice Dorinda Smith ruled that Akosua Serwaa could not prove she was the sole legal wife, while Odo Broni successfully demonstrated her traditional marriage to the musician.

The court was reportedly not convinced by the marriage certificate Akosua Serwaa presented to support her claim of an ordinance marriage in Germany.

The judge directed that both women, Germany-based Akosua Serwaa and Ghana-based Odo Broni, be recognised as spouses of the late Highlife legend and be allowed to perform widowhood rites.
