The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has successfully traced all of its missing containers and has so far retrieved more than 1,000 from the port.

The company made this announcement during an appearance before Parliament’s Energy Committee.

According to Acting Managing Director, Ing Julius Kpekpena, ECG has made “a lot of progress” since May, when the containers were initially reported missing. He stated, “So far, we have moved over a thousand containers. I’m happy to say that we traced all of the containers and we started moving them from the port.”

Additionally, Ing Kpekpena noted that the company has intensified efforts to stabilize power supply.

He explained, “We have managed to curb outages. We are not saying that we have eliminated outages, but we’ve worked to curb them, and we are continuing to put in measures to make sure that we don’t go back to what we came to meet.”

This disclosure follows a recent audit that revealed a discrepancy of 1,347 containers containing cables and equipment between ECG’s records and the actual number found at Tema Port.
