CEO of Don’s Music Production, Dennis Boafo, popularly known as Don D and organizer of the Ghana Music Awards USA, has shot down claims that they are visa contractors.
According to him, they solely facilitate those interested in attending their events.
The Ghana Music Awards USA, also known as GMA USA, is a widely recognized annual event honoring Ghanaian musicians and artists’ cultural contributions within Ghana and the diaspora.
During a chat with Halifax Ansah Addo on the Okay FM Mid Morning Show, Don D expressed his concerns about some Ghanaians attempting to exploit the platform to gain visa access to the USA. He clarified that this was not the intended purpose of the platform.
He emphasized, “We only facilitate those who genuinely wish to attend, such as our patrons, the Ghanaian media, nominated artists, and our sponsors, all through legal means. These are individuals investing in America.”
Addressing the previous year’s applications, he mentioned, “Out of the numerous applicants, we facilitated only four individuals whom we were confident would adhere to their permit terms. We are cautious not to assist those who might overstay or run away.”
Don D emphasized that the event’s purpose is to promote the music of Ghanaian artists and provide them with exposure. Although the event primarily focused on artists in America, he acknowledged the importance of recognizing the contributions of Ghanaians back home and not neglecting them.
