Karela United claimed a hard-fought, narrow win against visiting Heart of Lions at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 20, 2024.

The game was a must-win for both teams, and as expected, it was an enthralling and breathless encounter.

An evenly contested first half ended in a goalless draw, with both teams failing to take the chances that fell to them.

It looked like the game was going to end scoreless after the recess before Hardi Mohammed was brought down in the penalty box in the 80th minute.

Abdul Latif stepped up to expertly convert the resulting penalty to give Karela the lead.

The Pride and Passion held on to their narrow lead to bank all three points as they handed the visitors their first defeat of the campaign.

Both teams are now level on 8 points in the league standings, in 11th and 12th positions respectively.

Karela sits above their guests with a better goal difference after recording their second win of the season.

They will hope to build on this performance when they travel to Bechem United for their next match.

Lions return to Kpando to host Nsoatreman for their next game.
